Producer Spotlight: Pierre Péters – Les Chétillons

The Stats
Region: Champagne
Appellation: Champagne AOC
Grape: 100% Chardonnay (Blanc de Blancs)
Estimated Annual Production: c.1,000 cases per vintage
Why Rayas?
The Péters family has cultivated Chardonnay in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger for over six generations, establishing one of Champagne’s leading grower estates on Grand Cru vineyards.
Under Rodolphe Péters, with backgrounds in both oenology and engineering, the domaine is defined by precision, purity, and a deeply terroir-driven philosophy.
Les Chétillons comes from three old-vine parcels—many over 50 years old, in the heart of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, the same Grand Cru village as Salon and Krug’s Clos du Mesnil. The deep chalk soils deliver the hallmark tension, minerality and focus characteristic of elite Blanc de Blancs.
Low yields, meticulous canopy management and hand-harvesting underpin quality. Importantly, Les Chétillons is aged on lees under natural cork rather than crown cap, allowing gentle micro-oxygenation that contributes to greater aromatic complexity and texture, a rare technique in Champagne.
The Investment Fundamentals
The WineFi Pierre Péters Index has delivered a 20% annual CAGR over the past decade, despite an average 19% drawdown in the last three years. With its low beta and strong historical resilience, Les Chétillons offers robust, all-weather exposure to the grower Champagne category.
Insider Vintage
Our recommended vintage is the 2013 Pierre Péters Les Chétillons, currently:
Trading at a 30% discount to its previous high
Offering 27% better price-per-point value than benchmark vintages (2002, 2004)
Awarded 96+ points by Robert Parker -- the highest score since 1982
Carrying a drinking window to 2055, making it suitable for both mid- and long-term horizons
The 2013 combines value, pedigree and longevity, making it one of the most compelling opportunities in prestige grower Champagne today.
